Students Compete in Oakland City University STEM Challenge Today (w/VIDEO)

STEMOakland City (NNDC) – Twenty-Nine Southern Indiana high school teams will compete in the 4th Annual Southwest Indiana STEM Challenge today at Oakland City University.

STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Teams of four students will compete in group challenges which will test their science, math, problem solving, and engineering skills.

Dubois County is represented by teams from Jasper High School, Southridge High School, and Forest Park Junior-Senior High School

The challenges have been developed and will be administered by:

  • ATTC Manufacturing
  • Battery Innovation Center
  • Farbest Foods
  • Jasper Engines and Transmissions
  • Kimball Electronics
  • Kimball International
  • Mead Johnson Nutritionals
  • Toyota

The top two teams in each challenge and the top three teams overall will be awarded cash prizes.

New to the STEM Challenge this year is the introduction of a Teamwork/Communication cash prize for the team that displays the best teamwork and communication skills.

Scholarships will be awarded to all participants.

An award ceremony follows at 1:30 p.m. in the Student Life Center Cafeteria at Oakland City University.
