Myers Sentenced To 40 Years In Prison



Jasper (NNDC) – A Jasper man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the attempted murder of his ex-wife.

35-year old Casey Myers was found guilty by a jury on March 1st and was sentenced to 40 years in prison Monday.

35-year old Casey Myers was arrested December 22, 2015 on charges of attempted murder and strangulation after police say he cut his estranged wife’s throat during an incident at the couple’s home in the 400 block of East Seventh Street.

Jasper police say officers found Myers sitting on a chair on the front porch of the house.  Police say 28-year old Kristen Myers was found inside the home.  She had been choked and her throat was cut.



The victim was taken to Memorial Hospital, where she was stabilized before being transferred to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, according to authorities.

During trial testimony, Kristen Myers had gone to the home on East Seventh Street with a female friend to pick up Christmas presents for the couple’s children.

JPD says the friend ran to a neighboring residence to call 911 after the Casey and Kristen began arguing.

Police say Casey Myers had a blood alcohol content of .14% at the time he was arrested.
