Simon C. Voges, Jr., 73, Jasper

Simon VogesSimon C. Voges Jr., 73, of Jasper, died Saturday (April 1) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. He was born in Evansville February 16, 1944, to Simon A. and Frieda (Jasper) Voges. He married Martha J. Buechler on October 7, 1967 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Simon retired as a butcher and also worked in insurance sales. He was an Indiana Army National Guard veteran (Ret) and a member of American Legion Post No. 147 in Jasper and its Military Honor Guard. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, the St. Joseph Holy Name Society, a past Grand-Knight of the Jasper Knights of Columbus, and the Jasper Jaycees. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Voges; two sons, Kevin Voges, Evansville, and Brian Voges and fiancé Jamie Bolton, Terre Haute; and four grandchildren, Emily, Aaron, Adam, and Sarah Voges. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Nordhoff and LaVerne Knies.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Joseph Parish members will lead a rosary at 1:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, the American Diabetes Association, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. The Jasper American Legion color guard will conduct military graveside rites.
