Norman L. Libbert, 83, Huntingburg

Norman LibbertNorman L. Libbert, 83, of Huntingburg, died Sunday (April 2) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Warrick County December 11, 1933, to Elmer J. and Lorene (Wilsbacher) Libbert. He married Carol Dupps February 13, 1960, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Norman was a 1952 graduate of Boonville High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He worked as a cost accountant and retired from St. Meinrad Archabbey. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg and the YMI Club and was an avid reader and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Libbert; three sons, Doug Libbert and wife Mary, Kerry Libbert and wife Krista, and Jeff Libbert and wife Janel, all of Jasper; three daughters, Tammy Altstadt and husband Steve, Boonville, Kim Johnson and husband Chuck, Jasper, and Tess Fleming and husband George, Evansville; three brothers, Lloyd Libbert and wife Judy, Dale, Bob Libbert and wife Jackie, Boonville, and  Jerry Libbert and wife Nancy, Santa Claus; sister-in-law Kathleen Libbert, Evansville; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Libbert, and one sister, Judy Sherman.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish rosary and YMI service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Huntingburg Public Library or to St. Mary’s Church. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Ryan Hilderbrand.
