James L. Hartwick, 60, Celestine

James HartwickJames L. Hartwick, 60, of Celestine, died Thursday (March 30) at his home. He was born in Jasper January 17, 1957, to Alfred and Dolores (Haefling) Hartwick. He married Debbie Eckert August 28, 1982, at St. Celestine Catholic Church.

James worked for Versteel in Jasper, Design Institute of America, and in construction. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Celestine Campus, the North American Hunting Club, and the North American Fishing Club. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, cutting wood, mushroom and ginseng hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Hartwick; two daughters, Jami Englert and husband Matt and Mary Buechlein and husband Ben, all of Dubois; one son, Jesse Hartwick and Harley Brinkman, three grandchildren, Mason and Jessa Englert and Wesson Buechlein; and his mother, Dolores Hartwick-Brosmer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Hartwick, and his step-father, Norman Brosmer.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
