Shirley MehringerqShirley A. Mehringer, 74, of Jasper, died Sunday (March 26) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in Jasper February 22, 1943, to Silas and Marie (Engelhart) Giesler. She married Jerome Mehringer June 6, 1964, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Shirley was a home daycare provider for over 30 years and also worked for Jasper Rubber Products. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper and its Blessed Virgin Sodality. She enjoyed playing cards, canning vegetables, bowling, and spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Jerome Mehringer; three daughters, Karen Weales and husband David and Kim Durcholz and husband Cory, all of Jasper, and Kellie Wheeler and husband Shawn, Apopka, Florida; two sons, Kevin Mehringer and wife Melissa and Kurt Mehringer and wife Jessica, all of Jasper; eight grandchildren; six sisters, Betty Wildman and husband Jim, Susie Friedman and husban4d John, Ruth Elliott, Linda Giesler, Viola Brickey, and Bernice Mathies, all of Jasper; and five brothers, brothers, William Giesler, Donald Giesler and wife Virlee, Terry Giesler and wife Julie, Edward Giesler and wife Helen, all of Jasper, and Larry Giesler and wife Robin, Indianapolis.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Turk, Margie Block, and Mary Jane Giesler, who died in infancy, and two brothers, Charlie and Robert Giesler.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Church. The Holy Family Blessed Virgin Sodality will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, the Alzheimer’s Foundation, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Church with entombment following in the Fairview Cemetery
