Crawford County Woman Arrested For OWI; Drugs

mapJasper (NNDC) – A Crawford County woman was arrested early Monday morning following a traffic stop on Jasper’s near south side (see map).

Jasper Police Department says an officer stopped a vehicle along Brucke Strasse east of South Newton Street for driving without running headlights and taillights shortly after 1:00AM.

After making contact with the driver, 40-year old Laura Fitch of Taswell, the JPD officer believed she was under the influence of illegal drugs or narcotics.

Field sobriety tests were conducted. JPD says Fitch failed those tests.

Fitch was then transported to Memorial Hospital for a blood draw.

Jasper police say the results indicated Fitch was under in the influence of Methamphetamine, Opiates, and Benzodiazapines.

She was taken into custody.

LOCAL MAN ARRESTED AFTER FIGHT

Jasper (NNDC) – A local man was arrested after a fight broke out Saturday night at near north side Jasper residence.

Arrested was 38-year old Nathaniel McNabb.

The fight had ended by time Jasper Police Department officers arrived at the home in the 16oo block of Newton Street at about 9:45PM.

JPD says two of those involved in the altercation had fled the scene on foot.

One of two (McNabb) was spotted by JPD in the 1500 block of Jackson Street, but refused with officers’ verbal commands to stop.

A foot pursuit continued into the 1500 block of Main Street where McNabb was apprehended.

After being medically cleared at Memorial Hospital, McNabb was charged with Resisting Law Enforcement (Class A misdemeanor).

TWO VEHICLE JASPER ACCIDENT INJURES ONE

Jasper (NNDC) – One of two drivers involved in an accident early Friday evening complained of neck and shoulder pain.

Jasper police say a truck driven by 53-year old Scott Rottet of Jasper and a car driven by 70-year old Ruth Margarida of Jasper were both traveling south on Newton Street shortly before 7:00PM when the two vehicles collided side-to-side.

JPD says Rottet did not see Margarida’s car when he merged from the left southbound lane of Newton to the right lane near 4th Street.

JPD says Margarida drove herself to Memorial Hospital.
