Ralph Norman, 89, Birdseye

Ralph NormanRalph Norman, 89, of Birdseye, died Wednesday (March 22) at Brookside Village in Jasper. He was born near Eckerty November 3, 1927, to Rubie and Alma (King) Norman. He married to Amzel June Zehr July 3, 1948. She died May 1, 2007.

Ralph worked as an engineer with the state highway department. He enjoyed rabbit hunting and raising cattle.

He is survived by one son, Dave Norman and wife Jane, Birdseye; five half-siblings, Donna Smith, Nellie Newkirk, Charlene Harlan, Fannie Calvert, and Wayne Norman; two grandchildren, Jill Persohn and husband Keith, Schnellville, and Steven Norman and wife Lisa, Owensville; and four great-grandchildren, Carter, Lexi, Dylan, and Brittany.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death one sister, Crystal Cain, and four half-siblings, Patricia Newkirk and Michael Norman and two infant siblings.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Condolences may be shared online at www.nassandson.com, Funeral services will at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial following in Mentor Cemetery near Birdseye. Rev. Albert Madden will officiate.
