Martha A. Roesner, 75, Holland

Martha RoesnerMartha A. Roesner, 75, of Holland, died Sunday (March 19) her home. She was born in Washington September 10, 1941, to Frank and Alma (Carey) Shawhan. She married Darrell Gene Roesner December 1, 1957, at the Lutheran Church Parsonage in Holland.

Martha worked at the Holland Dairy, Dubois County Daily Herald, Walmart, and Shamrock Printing Press, and was a school bus driver for the Warrick and Dubois County school systems for over 40 years. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Holland and enjoyed crocheting, listening to books on tape, gardening, hunting, fishing, boating, and cooking. She and Darrell were exchange student hosts, and hosted over 20 exchange students from all over the world.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell Roesner; two daughters, Penny Wilhite and husband Randy, Evansville, and Anita Woebkenberg, Ferdinand; three sisters, Carolyn Moore, Jasper, Patty Erwin and husband Ron, Evansville, and Jackie Hasenour and husband David, Ireland; one brother Tony Shawhan, Dale; four grandchildren, Logan Begle and wife Josie, Leitha Majewicz and husband Mark, and Lora and Taylor (T.J.) Woebkenberg; and three great-grandchildren, Jayce, Addison, and Leo.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Doug Begle, and one sister-in-law, Gayla Shawhan.

Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Thursday at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland. Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Church. Online condolences may be shared Funeral services at 6 p.m. Thursday at St. James Church. Interment will be at a later date. Pastor David Darling will officiate at the service.
