Walter William “Bill” Stutz, 89, Evansville

Walter Stutz picWalter William “Bill” Stutz, 89, died Monday (March 13) at River Pointe Health Campus in Evansville. He was born in Terre Haute November 1, 1927, to Walter Carl and Louise (Kern) Stutz. He married Lois Price June 21, 1952, at the Old Union Christian Church.

Walter worked in the Greater Jasper Consolidated School Corporation for 36 years. He started as a teacher and guidance counselor. He was principal from 1962 to 1969 when he became superintendent until he retired in 1991. He attended Crossroads Christian Church in Newburgh and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois Price; two sons, Mark Stutz and wife Kathy, Vincennes, and Phillip Stutz and wife Mackenzie, Madison, Wisconsin; two daughters, Jane Jones and husband Larry, Newport News Virginia, and Ann Smith and husband John, Evansville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Juanita Hunter, Logansport.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Raubuck.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville. Memorials may be made to the Saulmon Cemetery, c/o Box Straw, P.O. Box 206, Poseyville, IN, 47633. Funeral services at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Tom Ellsworth officiating. Burial will follow in Saulmon Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the retired military veterans.
