Morris E. Weidenbenner, 83, Ireland

Morris WeidenbennerMorris E. Weidenbenner, 83, of Ireland, died Tuesday (March 7) of injuries sustained from a traffic accident near his home. He was born in Ireland on January 1, 1934, to Andrew and Olevia (Durcholz) Weidenbenner. He married Mildred Hulsman May 3, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. She died July 7, 2001.

Morris was a 1952 graduate of Ireland High School. He was an independent contractor and retired from the Otwell and Ireland Water Utilities. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, a lifetime charter member of the Ireland Sportsman Club, and a member of the Ireland Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Purdue Boilermakers.

He is survived by three sons, Dave Weidenbenner and wife Michelle, Warsaw, and Mike Weidenbenner and wife Melinda, all of Jasper; two daughters, Brenda Krempp and husband Andy, Jasper, and Wanda Munroe and husband Greg, Orlando, Florida; 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three sisters, Marilyn Eckerle, Greenwood, Virginia Mehringer, Jasper, and Frances Waddell and husband Jim, Jasper; two brothers, John Weidenbenner, Ireland, and Bernie Weidenbenner and wife Dorothy, Jasper; and sister-in-law Helena Weidenbenner.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerome Weidenbenner, and one grandson, Zane Weidenbenner.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church or to a favorite charity. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
