Lisa GehlhausenLisa J. Gehlhausen, 56, of Ireland, died Saturday (March 4) at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. She was born in Jasper April 10, 1960, to Jim and Pat (Lechner) Weisheit. She married Jerry Gehlhausen May 24, 1981, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.

Lisa was a 1978 graduate of Jasper High School. She worked as a teller at Dubois County Bank in Jasper, as a manager at AAA Travel Agency in Jasper for several years, and was a clerk for the City of Jasper’s utility office. She also ran her own daycare for 13 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland where she was a Eucharistic minister, donated her time quilting for the church, and was chairman of the roast beef committee for the church picnic. She was a 19-year band parent, spent many hours volunteering with the band, and was a chairman of the Marching Wildcats burger stand. She loved the outdoors, gardening, cooking, baking, camping, quilting, crocheting, and spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandson, Joel.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Gehlhausen; one daughter, Bridget Hanselman and husband Nathan, Ireland; three sons, Benjamin “B.J.”, Bradley, and Brayden Gehlhausen, all of Ireland; one grandson, Joel Hanselman; her mother, Pat Weisheit, Jasper; four sisters, Debbie Buschkoetter and husband Brian, Shelbyville, Kathy Bierma and husband Ted, Wilsonville, Oregon, Tina Heim and husand Kent and Tonia Weisheit, all of Jasper; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Weisheit.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. A rosary will be prayed at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
