Otwell Woman In Rollover Accident West Of Ireland Was Arrested For OWI

Ireland (NNDC) – The driver of a minivan involved in a one-vehicle accident late Sunday night was injured and then later arrested for drunk driving according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

DCSD says deputies were called to the accident just after 10:00pm along Indiana 56 west of North 550 West west of Ireland.

DCSD says the driver of the vehicle was 41-year old Crickett Grubb of Otwell.

DCSD says Grubb was driving westbound when her van went off the highway to the right and overturned.

DCSD says Grubb failed sobriety tests on scene before being taken to Memorial Hospital for a blood test.  Deputies says she tested .182% BAC.

DCSD says Grubbs’ vehicle was a total loss.  She suffered a minor injury to her leg that did not require medical treatment.

She was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated.

No One Hurt In Two-Vehicle Jasper Accident

Jasper (NNDC) – No one was hurt in a two-vehicle accident Saturday evening at Third Avenue and Main Street.

Jasper police say an SUV driven by 58-year old Kathy Dooley of Birdseye was southbound on Main Street shortly after 9:oopm when she failed to yield the right-of-way to a westbound car on Third Avenue and the two vehicles collided.

The car was driven by 19-year old Grant Hopkins of Otwell.

Dooley was cited by police.

No One Hurt In Pickup/Semi Accident In Huntingburg

Huntingburg (NNDC) – No one was hurt in a two-truck accident Friday afternoon at 6th and Main (U. S. 231) Friday afternoon.

Huntingburg police say 62-year old Norman West of Evansville was southbound on Main Street when a pickup truck driven by 24-year old Jose Cruz-Mora pulled out in front of him from the CVS parking lot and the two vehicles collided.

Witnesses tell HPD Cruz-Mora pulled out of the parking lot at a ‘high rate of speed and spun out of control and then struck West’s semi-trailer.

Cruz-Mora was cited by police.

Two Local People Arrested For Shoplifting

Jasper (NNDC) – Two local people were arrested for shoplifting over the weekend in separate incidents at WalMart on the city’s far northside.

Jasper police say 22-year old Felicia Wright of Jasper was arrested on a Class A misdemeanor theft charge for taking close to $90 worth of clothing items from the stoe at about 6:00pm Sunday.

Meanwhile, police says a Jasper man attempted to take nearly $370 worth of items from WalMart Saturday afternoon.

Taken into custody at about 2:40pm was 53-year old Roberto Dopico Valle.

JPD says among the items Valle attempted to take from the store was a microwave.  Police he also attempted to take food items, housewares and even home décor items.

Police say Valle tried concealing some of the items as he left the store; and he changed the bar code on price stickers on other.

He’s been charged with Class A misdemeanor theft.
