Barbara Aline Johnson, 79, Jasper

Barbara JohnsonBarbara Aline Johnson, 79, of Jasper, died Monday (February 13) at Good Samaritan Society – Northwood Retirement Community. She was born in Velpen January 29, 1938, to Roy and LoCallie (Jones) Resenbeck. She married Donald R. Johnson February 17, 1957, in Huntingburg. He died July 21, 2009.

Barbara worked at Stork Hospital in Huntingburg for two and a half years and in the dietary department at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg for 29 years. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg and the Huntingburg VFW Auxiliary for 47 years. She enjoyed making crafts, playing bingo, collecting Santa Claus figurines, and her cats, especially Carmel Kid.

She is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Epple and husband Kenneth “Kenny,” Jasper, and Shirley Merkley, Huntingburg; daughter-in-law, Theresa Johnson; eight grandchildren; step grandchildren; and great-grandchilddren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Randy Johnson, Randy’s first wife Sarah Johnson, three brothers, Bill, Roy “Joe,” and Don Resenbeck; two sisters, Mary Carnahan and Ruth Kissell; three infant siblings; and one step grandson, Matthew Gehlhausen.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday the funeral home with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Pastor Mark West will officiate at the service.
