Jeffersonville Man Arrested For Jasper Store Theft

Jeffersonville manJasper (Local Sources) – A Jeffersonville man is behind bars after stealing tools valued at over $1600.00 from Rural King in Jasper last month.

Indiana State Police say on January 20th, Trooper Brock Werne began an investigation of a theft from the Jasper Rural King, in which three tool kits were stolen out the back door of the store.

ISP says Werne learned that 37-year old Joseph Zaepfel of Jeffersonville (pictured), in setting up the crime, placed the items in a shopping cart near the back door before asking to use the telephone near the gun counter.

Werne says while on the phone, Zaepfel phoned his accomplice to stage outside the back door, and then proceeded to grab the items, retreat out the back door of the store, place the items into a gold minivan, and drive away.

Through his investigation, Werne was able to work with the Jasper Police Department and identify Zaepfel as the suspect.

Friday, an arrest warrant was issued for Zaepfel through the Dubois County Court.  Werne and Senior Trooper Robbie Lambert went to Zaepfel’s Jeffersonville address and placed him into custody, without incident.  He was transported to and lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.
