“What A Week!” NNDC To Televise Forest Park At 2A Regional

Jasper (NNDC) – To once again quote one of my favorite lines from the 1984 movie Splash, “What a week I’m having!”  This, again, best describes the week NNDC and NNDC-TV experienced last week in our coverage of the Girls 2A sectionals.

As we’ve shared with you before, our ability to televise games ‘live’ and do so on both television and online is something not too many media entities, including TV stations, can do.  And our ability to do so is only getting better and better.

We are very proud of the fact we are now able to televise ‘live’ more than one event in a single day!  This was the case Saturday when we televised the boys basketball game between Southridge and Gibson Southern in the afternoon from Memorial Gym and the 1A Girls Sectional final at Lynnville.

Now, we did have a couple of ‘technical’ stumbles last week with the girls’ regionals at both Vincennes (Lincoln) and Lynnville (Tecumseh).

Saturday night, our telecast of the Lady Jeeps game with 1A #1 Wood Memorial was interrupted by an uplink that lost signal strength the longer we were ‘live.’  This was something we were alerted to earlier in the week by the Tecumseh High School IT admins.  We were informed they were working on it right up to Saturday.

When we tested the uplink four hours prior to tipoff, the signal strength was perfect.  But, when we began our live telecast, the uplink almost immediately lost signal strength.  If you were watching, you know we tried to rectify the problem as the game was going on.   But after several failed attempts, we made the move to one of our (NNDC) backup uplinks and we were able to salvage the telecast from there (though the game was albeit decided by then).

Despite the number of ‘live’ games and events we have televised, we are still learning that every new location more than likely is going to pose a new challenge as was the case Saturday night.

If you have been a regular viewer, you know after we have an “issue” at a location (generally outside Dubois County), our followup telecasts have been perfect!

To this, we are going to televise live the Forest Park girls in the 2A Regional at Paoli (on NNDC’s webchannel… www.newsnowdc.com/nndc-tv/).   The Ferdinand area is not serviced by Spectrum Cable).

The Lady Rangers are the only local team to advance out of the sectional round.

The game begins at 10:00am Saturday morning against 2A #6 South Ripley.  If the Lady Rangers win Saturday morning, we will also televise the championship game from Paoli that night!

“Stay Tuned!”
