Jasper (NNDC) – The driver of a car that was struck by a large piece of metal that fell off a passing truck is now listed in fair condition at an Evansville hospital.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says shortly before 10am Wednesday, 60-year old Charles Nunn of Jasper was driving southbound on U. S. 231 just south of WITZ Road when his car was struck by sheet metal believed to fallen off a northbound truck (a white box truck or possibly a tractor/trailer).

DCSD says one of the pieces of sheet metal penetrated the windshield of Nunn’s car striking him.  DCSD says Nunn’s car then exited the highway to the west, striking an advertising billboard support beam before the car came to rest.
