Betty L. Pieper, 81, Dubois

Betty PieperBetty L. Pieper, 81, of Dubois, died Tuesday (January 31) at her home. She was born in Huntingburg April 6, 1935, to Arthur and Rosa (Steffe) Hoing. She married Eugene “Jiggs” Pieper June 19, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

Betty was a homemaker and worked as a hairdresser and at Stork Hospital in Huntingburg. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois. She was a fan of Indiana University, the Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, and St. Louis Cardinals. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene “Jiggs” Pieper; two daughters, Marcia Knust, Cuzco, and Gwen Kelley and husband Jeff, Celesteine; five grandchildren, Trisha Eichmiller, Jami Weikert, Katie Knight, and Sierra and Natasha Ward; and six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Jones, Laken Eichmiller, Katelyn and Reese Weikert, and Alexis and Greyson Hackney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Rosa Hoing.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at St. Raphael Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Raphael Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Raphael Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
