Claretta L. Wagner, 85, Jasper

Claretta WagnerClaretta L. Wagner, 85, of Jasper, died Sunday (January 29) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born in Jasper March 8, 1931, to Sylvester and Pauline (Mundy) Vogler. She married Joseph B. Wagner April 18, 1953. He died March 1, 2012.

Claretta was a 1949 graduate of Jasper High School. She worked as a cook at the Schnitzelbank Restaurant in Jasper and as a bus driver for SIRS. She was a charter member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, a member of the Ladies Sodality, and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She volunteered at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. She was awarded the Brute Society Award from Precious Blood Catholic Church and enjoyed needlework, embroidering, reading, flowers, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by four daughters, Barb Bartley and husband Rick, Jasper, Karen Ackerman and husband Dean, Vincennes, Martha Rasche and husband Donny, Ferdinand, and Diane Schaffer, Dayton, Ohio; three sons, John Wagner and Michael W. Wagner and wife Jane, all of Jasper, and Mark Wagner and wife Michelle, Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one step great-grandson; two sisters, Betty Seifert and Anna Mae Singer, both of Jasper; and one brother, Sylvester Vogler Jr. and wife Connie, Huntingburg.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Vogler.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Precious Blood Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church with entombment following in Fairview Cemetery.
