Tip Leads Police To Marijuana Growing Operation At Jasper Apartment

Jasper (NNDC) – A tip from the public led to police to a marijuana growing operation inside a Jasper apartment and the apartment’s tenant now facing charges.

Dubois County Sheriff’s Department narcotics officer John Anderson says the tip back on January 16th led deputies to an apartment at 349 West 6th Street in Jasper.

Anderson says a warrant to search the apartment was granted two later after DCSD’s K-9 “Judge” detected what was described as the “presence of drugs” coming from the apartment.

Anderson says while officers were searching the apartment, its tenant, 56-year old Michael Goss, arrived home.  Anderson says Goss cooperated fully with officers conducting the search.

In the apartment, deputies and officers found about 20 marijuana plants; some fully grown as well as several jars of already harvested marijuant.  Also found were various paraphernalia including “grow” lights, scales and smoking pipes.

Goss is now facing three Level 6 felony counts of Maintaining a ‘Common Nuisance, Cultivating Marijuana, and Possession of Marijuana as well as a misdemeanor count of Possession of Paraphernalia.
