Former Resident Returns To Jasper To Share Daughter’s Story; Suicide (with VIDEO)

MorganJasper (NNDC) – Former Jasper resident, Christine Schmidt, an author and public speaker is returning to share her heartbreaking story about the life and death of her 12-year old daughter is 2014.

Morgan (pictured) took her own life in April of 2014. Schmidt will host three presentations at Jasper High School… once each on January 24, 25th and 26th to talk with students and parents bout the real dangers and effects of anxiety and depression their children could be experiencing and to help bring awareness in preventing young children, like Morgan, from committing suicide.

Schmidt, who lived in Jasper from 2005-2007, says she had no idea of what her daughter was struggling with before Morgan’s first suicide attempt a two weeks before she ended her life…

Feeling helpless following her daughter’s death, Christine founded the “It’s All Love, Only Love Coalition.”

Schmidt also visits schools and communities like Jasper sharing her story. She says her presentations are designed to teach parents, students and even teachers about what anxiety and depression looks and feels like, and how and when to share their own experiences as well.

She says kindness is also a key component of her presentation and conversation with those in attendance. Her message “Be Kind; always!”

Morgan, a twin, attended kindergarten at Jasper’s Holy Family School before the family moved away.

Schmidt’s presentations in Jasper will be…

Tuesday, January 24 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m in the JHS auditorium (parents only)

Wednesday, January 25 from 9:40-10:40 a.m. – JHS Students
