David E. “Davey” Wilz, 67, Jasper

David WilzDavid E. “Davey” Wilz, 67, of Jasper, died Wednesday (January 11) at his home. He was born in Huntingburg February 12, 1949, to Hilbert P. and Alberta H. (Marks) Wilz.

Davey was employed for 12 years at the Jasper Novelty Plant No. 2 in Jasper and retired recently from Kimball’s 15th Street Plant where he worked for 39 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, enjoyed enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching basketball games; and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by three sisters, Linda Sherman and husband Eugene and Mary Mutchman and husband David, all of Huntingburg, and Carol Dischinger, Owatonna, Minnesota; his co-worker, friend, and caregiver, Rodney Kapp, Jasper; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Joan Craig, one brother, Hilbert “Butch” Wilz, one nephew, Chad Mutchman, and one niece, Theresa Whitaker.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish vigil prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Church. Online condolences may be shared at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Madden.
