Cletus R. Sermersheim, 80, Jasper

cletus-sermersheimCletus R. Sermersheim, 80, of Jasper, died Wednesday (January 4) at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. He was born in Jasper July 15, 1936, to Carl J. and Loretta (Schmitt) Sermersheim. He married Sadie Voelkel April 25, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Cletus was a 1956 graduate of Dubois High School and served in the Indiana National Guard. He was a route salesman for Dubois County Beverage in Jasper for 42 years, worked in maintenance at Meadowood Apartments for eight years, and farmed the family farm with his brother for 34 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sadie Sermersheim; one daughter, Linda Gerber and husband Joseph, Jasper; two sons, Russell Sermersheim and wife Stephanie, Edinburgh, and Kevin M. Sermersheim and companion Tracy Haase, Haysville; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Samantha Gerber, Amanda Thornton, and Alexandria Sermersheim; two great-grandchildren, Eliza and Ivan Gerber; one sister, Ruth Beckman, Jasper; and brother-in-law Jim Vaughn, Jasper.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Bernetta Rasche, Luella Sermersheim, Rita Vaughn, and Alma Foster, and one brother, Marvin Sermersheim.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity. Funeral services at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum.
