Mary Lou Tretter, 75, Celestine

mary-tretterMary Lou Tretter, 75, of Celestine, died Wednesday (January 4) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Celestine July 10, 1941, to Leo H. and Veronica (Gadlage) Hoffman. She married Linus Tretter June 20, 1964, at St. Celestine Catholic Church.

Mary was a graduate of the Academy of the Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand. She was a secretary at the parish office at St. Celestine and was a homemaker following her retirement. She was a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Celestine Campus and the St. Anne’s Society. She enjoyed working with flowers, gardening, reading, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Linus Tretter; one daughter, Denise Schroering and husband Kevin, Celestine; three sons, Brian Tretter and wife Jill, Huntingburg, Kevin Tretter, Indianapolis, and Michael Tretter and wife, Kelly, Celestine; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Eugenia “Jeanie” Rahman and Carol Knies and husband, Paul, all of Jasper; one brother, Alan Hoffman and wife, Dana, Jasper; and one brother-in-law, Jack Goodman, Celestine.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Goodman.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Isidore Parish or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Isidore Catholic Church – St. Celestine Campus with burial following in the church cemetery.
