Kenneth “Pete” Rudolph, 100, Ireland

pete-rudolphKenneth “Pete” Rudolph, 100, of Ireland, died Monday (January 2) at Brookside Village in Jasper. He was born in Ireland September 17, 1916, to William F. and Matilda (Himsel) Rudolph on the Rudolph Farm home place where he farmed and resided for 100 years.

Pete was the last surviving member of the Ireland High School class of 1934. He enjoyed telling stories of his school days and the early basketball games at Ireland High School. He was a lifetime farmer, a member of the Farm Bureau Association and the Ireland Historical Society. He was an avid reader of three newspapers, and loved informational magazines and receiving first class mail. He always documented the received date on all mail before he opened it. His hobby was collecting pencils, pens, and paper to have ready for recording information.

He is survived by one niece, Mary Jane Eckert and husband Dr. Ronald C. Eckert, Jasper; and two nephews, David J. Rudolph and wife Angie, Ireland, and Dr. Richard Rudolph and wife Janice, Jasper.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred May Rudolph, two brothers, Lenas E. and William Rudolph, Jr., and one nephew, John K. Rudolph.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ireland Community Endowment.
