Harold A. Meyer, Sr., 87, Huntingburg

harold-meyerHarold A. Meyer, Sr., 87, of Huntingburg, died Saturday (December 31)at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. He was born in Mariah Hill February 18, 1929, to Edward and Clara (Bredhold) Meyer. He married Mary Ann Bertke April 30, 1955, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda.

Harold was a construction laborer. He worked for Olinger Construction Company and W.D. Bartlett Construction. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a 66 year member of Santa Claus American Legion Post No. 242.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Meyer; two daughters, Rosemary Meyer, and Donna S. (Ray) Sattler and Husband Ray, Holland; five sons, Paul J. Meyer and wife Bonita, Jasper, George J. Meyer, Ferdinand; and Allen Meyer and wife Carol, Harold Meyer, Jr. and wife Joan, and Thomas E. Meyer, all of Huntingburg; daughter-in-law Lily Hubert, Fulda; one brother, James J. Meyer, Huntingburg; 13 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Mark Meyer; three brothers, Renus, Melvin, and Elmer Meyer, and one sister, Estella Meyer.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish rosary prayer vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be shared online at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Ryan Hilderbrand. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Santa Claus American Legion memorial detail.
