Local Motorcyclist Lifeflighted After Christmas Eve Accident

accident-gfxFerdinand (NNDC) – A Huntingburg man was lifeflighted to an Evansville for injuries he suffered Friday afternoon along Ferdinand Road East near New Lake.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says 52-year old Curtis James was traveling eastbound on his motorcycle when for an unknown reason he ran off the road and into a ditch.

DCSD says it appears Smith lost control of the motorcyle before it fell on its left side along the should and then slid back onto the pavement.

Smith, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, suffered an injury to his head of which he was lifeflighted from the scene to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evanville for treatment.

DCSD also says a friend who was riding in front of Smith turned around to render assistance and is the one who made the 5:19 p.m. call to 9-1-1.
