UPDATE: Battery Suspect Turns Himself In; Now Facing 4 Felony Charges

Jasper (NNDC) – Jasper police say wanted suspect Anthony Benton, who is listed as homeless, has turned himself in to JPD at about 2:15PM Tuesday afternoon.

Benton, who police say is homeless, has been formally charged with Criminal Confinement (Level 3), Battery (Level 6), Strangulation (Level 6), and Possession of Marijuana Over 30 grams (Level 6).

Jasper (NNDC) – Jasper police are asking for help in finding a local man who they say is the man suspect in a battery that occurred late Monday night.

Police say 25-year old Anthony Benton is being sought for his alleged role in the battery of a female that police say happened at about 11PM Monday at a home in the 1300 block of Main Street.

JPD says Benton was last seen wearing camouflage overalls but no shirt at the Circle A Food Mart on Newton Street at about two hours later.

Police say anyone with any information of Benton’s whereabouts is asked to call JPD headquarters at 812-482-2255 or the department’s anonymous tip at 812-481-2677 (COPS).
