Arrest Warrant Issued For Father Of Baby Left Inside Car Without Heat

Jasper (NNDC) – Jasper Police say an arrest warrant has been issued for 22-year-old Austin Elliott. He six-month old son was left inside a a car on the city’s far westside with the heat one early Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, the boy’s mother, 18-year old Justice Mundy was arrested on scene by police after she and Elliott allegedly left the boy strapped in a car seat in the car. The temperature outside at the time was 16 degrees; three degrees wind chill. Police say Elliott fled the scene on foot.

Mundy is charged with Neglect of a Dependent and Resisting Law Enforcement A witness told Jasper police the two got out of the car on Ruby Court and walked through several backyards at about 1:30AM.

The boy is in the care of Indiana Child Protectinve Services.

Police say Elliott faces the same charges as Mundy.
