Jasper (NNDC) – The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus will perform Handel’s celebrated work, “Messiah” at St. Joseph Catholic Church this Saturday evening.

Saint Joseph has been said to be the perfect venue combining the power of the music and the beauty of the architecture featuring the Italian Marble Altars and stunning Mosaics as the background.

Maestro Alfred Savia will conduct the Evansville Philharmonic in an inspirational presentation of Handel’s Messiah featuring; For Unto Us A Child Is Born, Every Valley Shall be Exalted and the exhilarating Hallelujah Chorus.

Originally composed in 1742, the “Messiah” is now one of the most performed works of classical music of all time across the world.

The Evansville Philharmonic will perform with period instruments from the time of Hansel (1685 – 1759).

The Messiah features many of Handel’s most famous choruses and arias notably the Hallelujah chorus. Originally composed in 1742 it is now one of the most performed works of classical music of all time across the world.

Father Ray Brenner has been Pastor of Saint Joseph Church since July of 2002. He was ordained to the Priesthood May 17, 1969 and Dean of the Evansville Diocese’s East Deanery.

He has been a long term patron of the Arts including the Evansville Philharmonic and currently is a member of their Board of Directors.
