Atelene Grigsby, 89, West Baden Springs

atelene-grigsbyAtelene Grigsby, 89, of West Baden Springs, died Monday (December 5) at Springs Valley Meadows in French Lick. She was born in Orange County February 25th, 1927, to Oscar and Grace (Scott) Wilson. She married Herman Grigsby June 26th, 1946. He died August 31, 2002.

Atelene was a member of the Crystal Community Church and the Red Hats Society. She was a 1945 graduate of West Baden Springs High School. She loved to crochet and complete crossword puzzles. She retired from the French Lick Five and Dime, where she worked in the fabric and sewing department.

She is survived by one daughter, Collene Qualkenbush and husband Bobb Dean, West Baden Spring; three grandchildren, Stephanie Faulk, Indianapolis, Stephen Qualkenbush and wife Christina, French Lick, and Jason Bayer and wife Julie, Huntingburg; four great-grandchildren, Michael “Robbie” Watson and wife Christina, Dubois, Amanda and Matthew Qualkenbush, both of French Lick, and Rusty Bayer, Huntingburg; and three great-great-grandchildren, Ava, Alexis, and Jase Watson, all of Dubois.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Bayer, one son-in-law, Chester Bayer, one grandson, Jonathan Bayer, and one grandson-in-law, Jeff Faulk.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and from 9-10 a.m. Friday at the T.L. Pinnick Chapel. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday at the T.L. Pinnick Chapel with burial following in the Ames Chapel Cemetery in Paoli.
