Damian J. McBride, 19, Birdseye

damian-mcbrideDamian J. McBride, 19, of Birdseye, died Saturday (December 3) in a house fire in Pike County alongside his Rottweiler dog Zander. He was born in Evansville January 28, 1997, to Karena Vonderheide and Josh McBride.

Damian was a graduate of Forest Park High School in Ferdinand, where he played football, and was in his second year at Vincennes University. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Jasper, the St. Anthony Conservation Club, the NRA, and ABATE. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors, and helping people.

He is survived by his parents, Karena Vonderheide and Josh McBride, Birdseye; two brothers, Justus and Xavier McBride, Birdseye; his paternal grandmother, Vickie McBride and husband Gary Chism, Evansville; his paternal grandfather, Arthur B. McBride, Cuzco; his maternal grandfather, William Vonderheide, Huntingburg; his great-grandfather, James D. Neukam, Huntingburg; and aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Alvina Vonderheide.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family. Condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church with burial following at a later date.
