NNDC-TV Winter Sports Telecasts Tip-Off This Week!



Jasper (NNDC) – Star Valley Productions, Inc., the parent company of NewsNow Dubois County and its NNDC-TV Channel 183 (Time-Warner Cable) says it is expanding its local high school sports ‘live’ telecasts with the addition of several Northeast Dubois High School boys and girls basketball games and boys and girls swimming meets.

NNDC’s winter sports telecasts will begin Thursday evening, December 1st as the Northeast Dubois girls play host to rival Springs Valley at the NDHS gym.  The telecast will begin at approximately 7:25PM with the game tip-off at 7:30PM.

The NDHS boys will also be featured this week when the Jeeps host Washington Catholic Friday night.

“We’re obviously excited about our winter sports telecasts after what was a successful fall schedule featuring local high school football with the Southridge Raiders,” says Mick Birge, executive producer for NNDC.

“The Friday night telecast will be a special one for fans as NDHS will celebrate the 80th birthday of the Jeeps’ beloved mascot, ‘Eugene,’ the most famous school mascot in all of Indiana.  We want everyone to come out to the game and celebrate Eugene’s big day in person, but if you can’t, then please join us for the telecast.”

Friday night’s telecast will begin at approximately 7:20PM as we will televise the NDHS band and fans singing “Happy Birthday” to Eugene.

Birge continued, “My thanks to (Northeast Dubois) superintendent Bill Hochgesang, and (NDHS athletic director) Terry Friedman for allowing us to add some of the Jeeps games to our local sports telecasts.  In addition to basketball, we are also planning to televise some of NDHS’ boys and girls swimming matches.”

Earlier, NNDC announced it was also going to televise several games of Oakland (MI) University Lady Golden Grizzlies basketball.  Oakland features Nicole Dodd, the all-time leading scorer in Northeast Dubois High School history.  Nicole is a senior for the Lady Golden Grizzlies.
