Hartke Charged With Three Counts Of Reckless Homicide

Greene County (WEHT/NNDC) –  Mason Hartke, 19, of Jasper has been charged in the deaths of the Rinehart family of Newburgh.

Indiana State Police say Hartke was driving with a BAC more than .08 when he crashed into the Rinehart’s car.

David, 46, Ruth, 74 and Sophie, 17, all died. Josie, 18, survived.

The family hit a deer on I-69 in Greene County, Indiana and pulled off the road. ISP says Hartke then crashed into them.

He faces three charges of OWI causing death & three counts of Reckless Homicide.

Hartke turned himself in and is being on a $60,000 dollar bond in Greene County.
