Barbara O. Hackmann, 64, Huntingburg

barbara-hackmanBarbara O. Hackmann, 64, of Huntingburg, died Wednesday (November 16) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Doolittle Mills March 21, 1952, to Elbert and Olive (Huff) Ball. She married Louis Henry Hackmann, Jr. June 20, 1970, in Birdseye.

Barbara was a homemaker. She was a member of Nicholson Valley Christian Church, loved spending time with her pets, especially her dog Lulu, working on her flowers, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Louis Hackmann, Jr.; one daughter, Shannon Shafer and husband Jason, Petersburg; two sons, Michael Hackmann and fiancé Shellie Johns, Birdseye, and Christopher Hackmann and companion Sally Keusch, Huntingburg; five sisters, Mary Shrout, English, JoAnn Crecelius, Marengo, Lois Hensley, Eckerty, Gladys Redden, Taswell, and Donna Ball, Velpen; four brothers, George “Tom” Ball, Eckerty, and Roger, James, and Delbert Ray Ball, all of Doolittle Mills; three grandchildren, Maggie and Makennly Shafer and Dakota Hackmann; and two great-grandchildren, Brayden Tewalt and Axl Spradlin.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday Nicholson Valley Christian Church, located west of Hillman on highway 56, 12 miles east of Haysville. Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg is in charge of arrangements. All visitation will take place at the church. Condolences may be shared online at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday at Nicholson Valley Church followed by burial in Foster Ridge Cemetery at Uniontown. Rev. Albert Madden will officiate.
