Memorial Hospital Earns Five-Star Rating From CMMS

Jasper (Local Sources) – The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has named Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper was among it’s top 3 percent of hospitals nationwide.

CMMS says for the second time, Memorial achieved a five-star rating, the highest possible rating for quality of care, customer experience and value of care received.

Memorial was one of only 112 hospitals nationwide to receive this distinction, and one of only nine in Indiana. The others are: including: Schneck Medical Center in Seymour; Franciscan St. Francis in Mooresville; IU Health West in Avon; OrthoIndy in Indianapolis; Orthopaedic Hospital at Parkview North in Ft. Wayne; St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago; St. Vincent in Carmel; and The Orthopaedic Hospital of Lutheran Health Network in Ft. Wayne.

“Receiving this distinction a second time is a result of the consistent focus on our mission of being for others through quality and excellence from our dedicated workforce,” said E. Kyle Bennett, Memorial’s president and CEO. “Our workforce is dedicated to providing the best care for the communities we serve, and we’re proud to receive this recognition.”

The assessment comes from a hospital rating system based on 64 quality measures — ranging from one to five stars — and shows how well each hospital performs, on average, compared to other hospitals in the U.S. The more stars, the better a hospital performs with the most common overall rating being three stars.  The report, available on the Hospital Compare website, reflects comprehensive quality of care in our nation’s hospitals.
