Ralph B. Fleck, 81, St. Anthony

ralph-fleckRalph B. Fleck, 81, of St. Anthony, died Saturday (November 12) at his home. He was born in Mariah Hill March 22, 1935, to Andrew and Martha (Giesler) Fleck. He married Nora E. Huff August 30, 1958, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.

Ralph retired from Englert’s Home Comfort Center in Jasper where he worked for 20 years and had previously worked for Armstrong Implement Store in Jasper for many years. He also served in the Indiana National Guard for eight years and was the caretaker for the Cox Cemetery. He is a member of Divine Mercy Parish in St. Anthony, a 50 year member of the Jasper Knights of Columbus, Schellville Conservation Club, and the St. Anthony Community Center. After his retirement he worked as a handy man, enjoyed his farm, playing sheepshead, and meeting his friends at Deb’s Restaurant.

He is survived by his wife, Nora Fleck; three daughters, Connie Schnell and husband Melvin, Celestine, Wanda Recker and husband Keith, St. Anthony, and Elaine Fleck and companion Kurt Rauscher, Huntingburg; two sons, Rick Fleck and wife Carla, Kyana, and Brian Fleck and wife Jenny, St. Anthony; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Goeppner, Ireland, Pat Hasenour and husband Gerald, Celestine, and Aline Laake and husband Dave, Nashville; and two brothers, James Fleck and wife Viola, Huntingburg, and Jerome Fleck, St. Anthony.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sarah Fleck.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anthony Cemetery Fund or to the Cox Cemetery Fund. The Devine Mercy Parish will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Church with burial following in the church cemetery. St. Anthony American Legion Post No. 493 will conduct military graveside rites.
