Jasper Arts To Host “Peter Rabbit Tales;” Calling For Local Artists For Public Gallery

7z6a3098Jasper (Local Sources) – Peter Rabbit Tales are hopping in to town to the Jasper Arts Center on Monday, November 14, 2016 for two school shows. Students and teachers from Greater Consolidated Jasper Schools, Holy Trinity Elementary School, Ferdinand, and Pine Ridge Elementary Schools will be attending the morning and afternoon performances.

Enchantment Theater Company will be telling imaginative stories through performance that inspire and enrich our student and teacher audiences.

The show, Peter Rabbit Tales, is based on The Original Peter Rabbit Books, by Beatrix Potter. Peter was Ms. Potter’s first and most beloved character and he and his family appear in a number of the tales. Other stories included in the show are The Tale of Benjamin Bunny and The Tale of Mr. Toad.

7z6a3488Enchantment Theatre Company’s work of Peter Rabbit Tales is completely original.

This includes the entire production, from the development of the script, to the set, costumes and original music that is written just for the play.

Their unique style of performance captures inspires and sparks children’s imaginations by bringing stories to life by utilizing great theatre traditions from around the world, from the Bunraku theater of Japan, to the shadow puppets of Indonesia, from Italy’s commedia dell’arte to French mime and mask theater.

They employ a unique combination of art forms to tell stories: masked actors, magic and illusion, mime, and puppets (often life-sized, all set to classical and original music.

Meanwhile, Jasper Arts’ public art gallery is reviewing portfolios for solo and group shows for 2018.   All media. No fees. Professional, non-student artists only.

Artwork must be presented in a professional manner. Gallery provides invitations, press releases, honorarium, insurance coverage on-site, and reception where needed.  Artist is responsible for framing, shipping and/or delivery. 30% commission.

Send 10 images minimum for solo show, more for group show, along with artist statement and curriculum vitae. Digital images should be on CD or emailed. There are also paid opportunities for workshops/gallery talks in conjunction with the exhibit.

The deadline is March 13, 2017
