Huntingburg (NNDC) – A Huntingburg man has been arrested after police say he was involved in a physical altercation with another man late Wednesday night.

Arrested was 42-year old Sergio Caporal.  Police arrested Caporal at his home in the 300 block of East 1st Avenue after they found a second man lying on a bedroom floor in the home with a head injury.

Huntingburg police say Caporal struck the second man, 22-year old James Vasquez, several times causing bodily injury and choked him during the incident which made Vasquez unable to breath for a period of time causing him to lose consciousness.

HPD says Vasquez was taken to Memorial Hospital in Jasper for treatment of his injuries.

Caporal has been charged with a Level 6 felony count of Strangulation and a Class A misdemeanor count of Battery.
