Domestic Battery Suspect Attempts To Flee On Foot

Huntingburg (NNDC) – A local man was taken into custody late Friday night following a alleged domestic battery incident at his home.

Huntingburg police were called the home home of Lehabim Antonio Gutierrez-Mejia in the 400 block of East Second Avenue at about 11:25PM.

HPD says while an officer was enroute to Gutierrez-Mejia’s home, they noticed a man on a scooter that matched his description and he was the suspect in the alleged domestic battery.

HPD says while the officer was talking with Gutierrez-Mejia, the 20-year old Huntingburg attempted to flee on foot.

A short time later, Gutierrez-Mejia was subdued.

HPD says upon further investigation, police discovered injuries to a female at the home on East Second Avenue and Gutierrez-Mejia was taken into custody.

He’s charged with a felony count of Domestic Battery in the Presence of a Child and Resisting Law Enforcement.
