Huntingburg (NNDC) – Local police say serving a warrant to a suspect at a Huntingburg home Wednesday has led to the arrest of three people on drug and handgun charges.

At about 10:15AM Wednesday, officers with the Huntingburg Police Department and deputies with the Dubois County Sheriffs Department went to 805 E. 8th Street in Huntingburg  to serve a felony warrant on Tanner Opel.  DCSD says the warrant was for Unlawful Possession of a Syringe.

Police say there were four people at the residence.

DCSD says officers conducted a search of the residence attempting to locate Opel.

DCSD says while searching for Opel officers noticed indications of drug trafficking and drug use inside the residence.

Opel was ultimately located hiding in the shower area of a bathroom.

DCSD says a second search of the home found a small amount of marijuana, a baggie containing approx. one gram of methamphetamine, several syringes and some very large pieces of other methamphetamine.  DCSD says more than 10 grams of methamphetamine was found along with a .45 caliber handgun.

DCSD says taken into custody was the 24-year old Opel who lives in Huntingburg.

He now faces charges of Ppossession of a Syringe – a Level 6 felony; Dealing in methamphetamine over 10 Grams While in Possession of a Firearm – a Level 2 felony and Possession of Methamphetamine over 10 grams while in Possession of a Firearm – a Level 4 felony.  He’s also charged with a Class C misdemeanor of Possession of Paraphernalia.

Also arrested was 22-year old Larry Dillon and 26-year old Lindsey Bowman who live at the 8th Street home.

Both have been charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine over 10 grams while in Possession of a Firearm – a Level 2 felony; Possession of Methamphetamine over 10 grams while in possession of a Ffirearm – a Level 4 felony and Possession of paraphernalia – a Class C misdemeanor.

DCSD says Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
