avec_hires-smJasper (Local Sources) – Brighten your holidays with Lightwire Theater’s “A Very Electric Christmas” at Jasper Arts Center on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. presented by Jasper Community Arts.

Audiences of all ages will treasure this magical and captivating tale of adventure, friendship and love and which brings a whole new meaning to coming “home for the holidays.”

A young bird named Max and his family are heading south for the winter. When Max gets blown off course during a snowstorm, he ends up alone and lost at the North Pole.  As he tries to make his way home, Santa’s helpers assist him.  Along the way he encounters friendly caroling worms, dancing poinsettias, Nutcracker soldiers with candy canes, mischievous mice and an evil Rat King.  This delightful holiday production will make children wide-eyed with delight and warm even the smallest of hearts.

Lightwire Theater is the creation of Ian Carney and Corbin Popp who met on Broadway and discovered their mutual love of art, theater and technology. After coming across a product called electroluminescent wire or “EL wire” for short, the possibilities seemed endless. Together, along with their wives Eleanor and Whitney, they began to develop EL wire puppetry based on creatures that quickly gained personality.  Their performances are truly unique, innovative and visually dazzling theatrical experiences as they strap on EL wire puppetry to their entire bodies and bring the creatures to life through movement and dance.

Performed in complete darkness, this creative storyline features characters and creatures that will light up the stage. Each Lightwire performance is a unique interpretation of a story told by dancers and glow-in-the-dark puppets. These stories are told solely through music, movement and puppetry, without words, so it is up to your creative imagination to determine what is happening on stage!

This performance is suitable for all ages. There will only be one performance on Saturday, November 5th at 3:30 p.m.  Order your tickets now by calling the Jasper Arts Center right away at (812) 482-3070.  Prices are $15 for adults and seniors and $8 for students and children.
