Jasper; Forest Park & Southridge Advance To ISSMA Band State Finals

Indianapolis (NNDC) – As expected, Jasper and Forest Park are making return trips to the Indiana State School Music Association Marching Band Finals this weekend and for the first time since 2012, Southridge is making the trip as well.

Jasper earned a 27th consecutive ISSMA state final appearance by making the 10 in scoring at the ISSMA semistate held at Pike High School in Indianapolis.

JHS’ 2016 show is titled; “A Mid-Autumn Night’s Dream.”

The Marching Wildcats won the Class B state title in 2012.  Jasper won the inaugural Class A state championship in 1973.

The 10 qualifying bands in the Class B state finals this Saturday are Concord, Jasper, Greenfield-Central, Fort Wayne North Side, Munster, Decatur Central, Northview, Evansville North, Bloomington North and Northridge.

Jasper will be the first band to perform at the state finals.  Class B will be the first class to take the field in Indianapolis.  The Marching Wildcats perform at 10:00AM this Saturday.

Notably missing from the 2016 Class B state finals; Greenwood.  Greenwood has won the ISSMA Class B title 13 times.

Meanwhile, the four-time defending Class D state champion Forest Park has also qualified for the 2016 state finals with a Top 10 performance at the semistate held Saturday at Franklin Community High School with its show “Jewel Tones!”

The Marching Rangers have won the Class D title a total of 11 times.

The Southridge Marching Raiders also qualified for the Class D state finals with a top 10 performance Saturday at Franklin with its 2016 show called, “Wild Garden In A Formal Setting.”

The 10 qualifiers for Class D this Saturday are Springs Valley, Forest Park, Paoli, Evansville Mater Dei, Southridge, Triton Central, Northwestern, Adams Central, and Monrovia.

Southridge will take the field at Lucas Oil Stadium at 5:09 Saturday afternoon; Forest Park takes the field at 6:14PM.

Meanwhile, the ISSMA Scholatic Class B State Finals was held this past Saturday at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis.  Danville won the state title over 12 other bands.

The Northeast Dubois Marching Jeeps competed in the state finals for the first time in school history with its show, “Connect The Dots,” but did not place in the top five.

Scholastic Class B includes programs that would be in Open Class C or Class D but have less than 55 total members.
