Al-Fred J. Hoffmann, 84, Ferdinand

al-fred-hoffmanAl-Fred J. Hoffmann, 84, of Ferdinand, died Sunday (October 23) in the Loogootee Health Care Center. He was born in Martin County July 23, 1932, to Luther J. and Amanda (Himsel) Hoffmann.

Al-Fred was a graduate of Loogootee High School and the University of Louisville with a degree in business. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the City of Ferdinand as manager and accountant for the utility department. He also worked for L&N Railroad in Louisville and for Mallory Batteries in Indianapolis. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville.

He is survived by two sisters, Margaret Bosley McGivenney and Doreatha Roberts, both of Louisville; two brothers, Richard W. Hoffmann and wife Barbara and Karl E. Hoffman and wife Becky, both of Loogootee; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity. Funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church with burial following in Community Cemetery in Haysville. Rev. Timothy Kraemer will officiate. VFW Post No. 673 will conduct military graveside rites.
