“German Voices In Indiana” At Dubois County Museum Today

Jasper (NNDC) – Former Indiana Poet Laureate Norb Krapf will return to his roots for “German Voices In Indiana,” Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 at the Dubois County Museum.

At this event Krapf will join with Helmut Haberkamm, poet and playwright, to read some Franconian dialect poems in English about rural life, followed by Helmut reading in German dialect.

Following the first set of readings, another former Indiana Poet Laureate Joyce Brinkman will join with Gabrielle Glang, German poet living in the U.S. since the 1990’s, in readings from their book.

This entire program qualified for an official Indiana Bicentennial Award with Indiana Humanities.

From October 10-16, this quartet will be travelling the state and presenting a program each day by this name.

The program is free to the public, but the Museum says a ‘free-will’ offering will be taken for the presenters’ expenses.  Light refreshments will be served.

Museum officials say the program will be especially entertaining for those who enjoy hearing the German dialects or any other of the attractions.
