John Thomas Gilmore, 63, Birdseye

john-gilmoreJohn Thomas Gilmore, 63, of Birdseye, died Wednesday (October 5) at the home of his sister, Rhonda Hochgesang, in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg December 30, 1952, to Kenneth and Lola (Huff) Gilmore.

John worked as a lab technician for Pepsi Cola and retired from Best Chairs. He enjoyed woodworking; raising goats and chickens, reading, and watching movies.

He is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Lola Gilmore, Birdseye; one sister, Rhonda Hochgesang and husband Greg, Jasper; two brothers, Dan Gilmore and wife Margi, St. Anthony, and Jim Gilmore, Sumter, South Carolina; one uncle, Henry Huff, Birdseye; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Kenneta Merder.

A graveside committal service will be held at 2 p.m. (EDT) Saturday at the Eckerty Cemetery. Pastor Paul Newland will officiate. Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg is in charge of arrangements. There will be no public visitation at the funeral home. Condolences may be shared online at
