Ambrose A. Pfister, 98, Jasper

Ambrose PfisterAmbrose A. Pfister, 98, of Jasper, died Monday (August 22) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born in Jasper July 20, 1918, to Amos and Elizabeth (Streicher) Pfister. He married Mildred Fritch December 6, 1945, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. She died November 20, 2000.

Ambrose retired from Kimball, Jasper Laminates after 28 years of service. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran – 1st Battalion, 152nd Infantry. He served in New Guinea from 1941 to 1945. He was a member of VFW Post No. 673 and American Legion Post No. 147. He was also a member of St. Joseph Church and the Jasper Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed bowling, traveling, and playing cards.

He is survived by two daughters, Sarah Kasprzak and Ann Bonam, both of Jasper; four grandchildren, Andrew Kasprzak and wife Jolee, Michelle Kasprzak, and Nicholas and Luke Bonam; one step grandchild, Miles Moffett; one sisters, Rose Mehringer, Jasper; and one brother, Ed Pfister and wife Joan, Jasper.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Dennis, and Leon Pfister.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at Funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. VFW Post No. 673 will conduct military graveside rites.
