Raymond “Hap” Rees, 83, Jasper

Raymond ReesRaymond “Hap” Rees, 83, of Jasper, died Saturday (August 20) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Jasper May 27, 1933, to Henry and Mary (Meyer) Rees. He married Anna Fox February 8, 1958, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Raymond served in the U.S. Army in Germany and retired from the Jasper Corporation, where he worked as a night watchman 46 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Church.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Rees; two daughters, Ann Bleemel and husband Alan, Sr., Loogootee and Mary Jane Tackett and husband Wayne, West Virginia; two sons, David Rees and wife Georgia, Louisville and James Rees and Brian Ernst, Jasper; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ann Robison, Indianapolis.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Elsie Ward, Mary Lou Rees, and Sr. Frances Rees, SP, and two brothers, Herbert and Jack Rees.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to the Raymond Rees family. Funeral services at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. VFW Post No. 673 will conduct military graveside rites.
