David Franklin Payne, 60, Jasper

David PayneDavid Franklin Payne, 60, of Jasper, died Saturday (August 13) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Indiana September 12, 1955, to Raymond and Jenny (Morgan) Payne.

David’s mother passed away at an early age and he was subsequently raised by his grandmother, Ruth Morgan. He was a computer and electronics technician and was employed at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill in Jasper. While living in Bloomington he was a member of the build team that constructed Indiana University’s cyclotron. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1976 to 1980 and loved music and fishing.

He is survived by one daughter, Stacy Buhr and companion Kevin Marchino, Huntingburg; one sister-in-law, Brenda Payne, Bedford; and two granddaughters, Kayla and Molly Buhr, both of Huntingburg.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, John Payne.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to assist with burial expenses. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor David King officiating and the VFW Post No. 2366 Memorial Detail conducting military honors. Cremation will follow the funeral.
