Bertha M. Buechlein, 96, Jasper

Bertha BuechleinBertha M. Buechlein, 96, of Jasper, died Friday (August 12) at the Waters of Huntingburg. She was born in St. Anthony May 22, 1920, to Adam and Rosina (Voegerl) Englert. She married Urban Buechlein August 19, 1941, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He died December 31, 1975.

Bertha was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and its St. Anne’s Society. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Maxey, Huntingburg, and Darlene Cunningham, Petersburg; two sons, Ron O. Buechlein and wife Mag and Jim Buechlein and wife Judy, all of Jasper; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Dennis G. Buechlein, one son-in-law, Daryl Maxey, one great-grandchild, Hadlye Buechlein, three sisters, Mary Kunkler, Elizabeth Braunecker, and Regina Brown, and four brothers, Edwin, Eugene “Ike”, and Oscar Englert. One brother, Joseph Englert, died in infancy.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Joseph St. Anne’s Society will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity. Condolences may be made at Funeral services at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church wth burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
